Experiencie with Emily Dickinson´s Poem
The Soul selects her own Society
The Soul selects her own Society — Then — shuts the Door — To her divine Majority — Present no more — Unmoved — she notes the Chariots — pausing — At her low Gate — Unmoved — an Emperor be kneeling Upon her Mat — I’ve known her — from an ample nation — Choose One — Then — close the Valves of her attention — Like Stone —Emily Dickinson
- Emily Dickinson´s poem reflects something that everyone experiences, the conflict of making our own decisions without listening the opinions of everyone else. This happen in many situations of my own life, making my own decisions, thinking with my own criteria.
- It´s hard because you feel you can hurt someone, or say something wrong, but is better to express your own opinions about what you feel and experience. There are many moments where I think is better not to tell something, but then I regrett thinking that it would be better if I just express what I feel.
- There are many situations in wich is hard not being influenced by other people´s opinions, but we have to listen to ourselves, what we really want, and like Dickinson express "the soul selects her own society" our soul selects her own society.
- We have to close doors,"emperors or sovereigns", to hear ourselves and listen what we really want and what we want to get. We don´t have to let ourselves being in captivity and stay in control of someone else.
